CAMP #2 VIDEO FILMING SCHEDULE FOR THURSDAY, 9/23/21, POSTED

Thursday, 9/23/21, is our video session day. Jeff Philips will be the videographer for our video analysis session. He is a professional sports videographer with a solid background in videoing sports events.

The session starts promptly at 8:30 am, so do not be late because the timing of the videos is limited. The court assignments will be determined once our videographer has his cameras set up.

There will be two sessions and two groups. The first session is from 8:30 am - 10:30 am and the second session is from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm. During each session, there are two groups. One group will be getting a video analysis while the other group gets a 15-minute private lesson.

From 8:30 am - 10:30 am, four groups will do video sessions while the other four groups get 15-minute private lessons. For the video session, four players will be videoed while the other four players in their group play games or practice. For the 15 minute private lessons, one person in the group will get a 15-minute private lesson, while the other seven people in the group play games or practice. This process will repeat from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and the group that had a video in the first session will now be getting a 15-minute private lesson, while the group that had a 15-minute private lesson will now be getting a video analysis.

VIDEO SESSION UPDATE

• Due to rain video sessions will be at Creekside Racquet Club.

• Video groups will go to Creekside Racquet Club and Private Lessons Groups will stay at the Tennis Center

• 8:30 am session at Creekside are Aces, Alley Cats, Bangers, and Drop Shots. At 10:30 am these same groups will come to the Tennis Courts and get private lessons.

• 8:30 am session groups at Tennis Courts are Kitchen Dinks, Lob-Sters, Smashers, and Split-Steppers. At 10 am these groups will go to Creekside for Video Sessions.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JOHN SPERLING!!!

• Last weekend John won Gold in Senior Men's Doubles with his partner, Thunder Lopez. This was John's first major tournament Gold medal. As a result of his winning weekend, John is now the #1 Senior Men's Double Player in the World!!! We are excited to have John at our camp in September this year and also at Creekside Racquet Club in October for a clinic. Way to go, John!!!!!!!

PRO CONTACT INFORMATION FOR PRIVATE LESSONS

• Private lessons are a great way to enhance your Pickleball skills to improve your play. You will need to schedule your lessons with the pro and pay them for the lessons. The pros will set their rates.

LAUNDRY SERVICE ADDED

• Black Mountain Coin Laundry Service will be available to do your laundry. They will pick up Wednesday morning at 8:00 am and deliver on Thursday at 8:00 am. There must be a minimum of 5 people for them to do the laundry.

Procedures for Laundry

• Go to the front desk to get your laundry bag on Tuesday night before 9 pm.

• Return bag to front desk by 7:30 am Wednesday morning.

• Place an envelope and money ($15/bag).

• Go to the front desk on Thursday morning at 7:30 am to get your clean clothes.

PLAYER GROUP RATING EVALUATIONS

In order to get everyone in a similar skillset group, players will be evaluated on the Sunday arrival of your camp on their self-rated skill set. Player evaluation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the courts.

GROUP PICTURE

The group picture will be taken on Monday morning at 8:45 am on the Tennis Courts in Montreat, NC. All participants and Pros are asked to wear their camp shirts for the picture.

GREEN INITIATIVE AT MONTREAT CONFERENCE CENTER

Montreat Conference Center has launched a Green Initiative in an effort to reduce waste. As a result they are requesting that we use water bottles for drinking water instead of paper cups. Don't forget your water bottle so we can work to reduce waste at the Montreat Conference Center.

SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING

• Refillable water bottle (cups are not provide by Montreat Conference Center due to a green initiative)

• Notepad and Pen/Pencil

• Chair

• Sunscreen

• Cooler

• Hiking Shoes

• Playing Cards

• Board Games

• Plenty of Clothes

• Other Outside Gear as Needed

WARM UPS AND STRETCHES ON THE COURTS

Consider doing appropriate stretches, exercises, or a short brisk walk in order to avoid potential injuries.

SHOOTOUT ON FRIDAY

There will be a Pickleball Shootout on Friday for anyone not taking Private Lessons. The shootout will have two groups, 3.4 and below, and 3.5 and above. If you are interested in playing in this shootout, let us know so we can put you in a group.

LUNCHES

There will be no more box lunches. Lunches will be served at the Assembly Inn Dining Hall, so we will have to walk to the cafeteria at the Assembly Inn for lunch. Its about a 5 minute walk. We have added 15 minutes to lunch to accommodate everyone.

WEATHER (CURRENT)

Morning temperatures are dipping into the upper 50's and lower 60's and day temperatures are getting up to the upper 70's and lower 80's, so bring a light jacket and appropriate clothing.

PRIVATE LESSONS WITH THE PROS

The Montreat Pickleball Camp Pros will be available for private and small group lessons on Friday morning, and before and after the training sessions. Some instructors may start earlier or later than 8 am. They may also have times available before and after each daily training session. Private and small group lessons are a great way to get personal guidance for developing your Pickleball skills in a private or semi-private setting. These lessons will allow you to receive instruction on the specific skills that you want to improve. You can do a session with 1 and a pro, 2 and a pro, 3 and a pro, or 4 and a pro. Each instructor will set their lesson price, make their own reservations, and collect payment for the lesson. It is best to schedule your private lessons before camp because these private lessons generally sell out quickly. Don't miss out on this chance to get private or small group instruction from these superb Pickleball Pros and Trainers!!!

MASSAGES AVAILABLE

There will be a Sports Massage Therapist on-site providing massages on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The masseuse will also be available on Thursday by appointment only. The price is $1 per minute and there will be a sign-up sheet at the Tennis Courts for anyone interested in this service. The massage therapist will arrive, set up, and take clients on a first come, first serve basis.

THURSDAY NIGHT OUT

For Thursday Night Out everyone will be on their own for dinner. Below is a list of restaurants in Black Mountain. Two restaurants that are not on the list are Trailhead and Foothills Butcher Shop. From 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm after dinner, everyone is invited to the Pisgah Brewing Company to hear live music and mingle with the pros and other campers. This is a fun time for everyone.
